Like I said, they seemed to ONLY want garg skulls and not the other items you can trade in like charr carvings.

If I remember right it is only 1 singed gargoyle head to trade in for holiday items unlike the other trade in amounts. And the gargoyle heads are by far the easiest to obtain.

Gargoyles are weak against ice damage, my ice bow 15-25 does almost 100 points of damage when I use conjure frost and barrage or penetrating shot, my range wears droks studded leather and solos the swarms behind the Nolani Academy, lots of skulls, purples and shards.
My usual take:
1 cc shard
12-20 skulls
2 purple weapons (1 in 5 a mod)
5 blue (1 or 2 precious)
the rest of my inventory full of white

Char carvings are the easiest. Takes less than 2 mins to get 5-10, just gotta know where.

i did charrcarvings on the halloween event. regret it..
got about 2x in corridor.
now im doing grawls outside of surmia and i get aroun the same amount.
however! you need 3 carvings to the 2 necklaces to the collectors. so i choose necklaces
im fond of my ele's flameburst 1-kill, and saying that grawls are hammer/melee,, so its easy to just gather them n kill them all at once.. but the ulyotes or w/e are monks but i just flare twice at them and they die.
if gargoyles weren't mesmers and instead warriors. i'd farm them as well

Takes the same amount of time to get a similar number of garg skulls. Garg skulls are 3x better because it takes 1 for an xmas item, whereas carvings take 3.

I think the grawl necklaces drop the fastest, but whether its 2x the Garg skulls I can't say.
I was doing decayed orr emblems with a smite monk, is definitely slower, but the loot is a bit better otherwise (worth picking up). Not enough to compensate for the slowness probably.

ranger's troll ungent can overcome the health degen and the studded leather armor protects against the lightning attack.

To the OP, most people are probably farming candy canes, which clear death penalty. They may be quite valuable after the event.

The only difference between the Char Cravings and the Skulls are the wintersday presents. Since you won't always get something from the necros, but if you want the other stuff then go ahead and get the skulls.

It is clear that people are buying these because they trade 1:1 for a candy cane. Which can either be held for its DP removing power or traded for more money.
Gargoyle skulls are easy to get. Any hi level character can solo outside of the Nolani mission. Clean out the entire area (not just the immediate area) until you find no more gargoyles, and you got maybe 10 or more skulls. Plus a few shards if you are lucky, plus some dye. I have been farming here a number of runs for skulls to get candy canes and I got a lot of dye drops, including 4 silver and one black!

I personally prefer the Skulls to the Eyes, Carvings or Necklaces, Gargoyles are easyier to kill with my IDS.
